2024
Costco Richmond, TX
This project involved constructing a state-of-the-art fueling station from the ground up at Costco’s Richmond, Texas location. The site features three 40,000-gallon fuel storage tanks and 12 dispensers, ensuring high-capacity service for Costco’s customer base. Additional site work included the construction of a masonry kiosk and supporting columns, integrating a robust stormwater distribution system, and extensive deep well dewatering to protect the infrastructure and mitigate groundwater issues.
Weather Impacts
The project kicked off in early spring, a season marked by unexpected heavy rains that posed a consistent challenge. The inclement weather affected dewatering capacities and created overflow issues, as the site’s existing retention ponds were already at capacity. This limited the available areas for discharging water, increasing the complexity of managing stormwater and keeping the construction site dry and safe for ongoing work.
Alternative Retention
To address the water overflow challenge, our team coordinated with local authorities to gain access to an additional retention area nearby. We then engineered a solution to safely redirect excess water from the worksite to this secondary location, effectively mitigating on-site flooding and ensuring dewatering could proceed as planned. This proactive approach allowed construction to continue without compromising safety or project timelines.
