Stripes - Lubbock, TXAdding High Flow Diesel
In a five-month project, PSI (legacy) constructed and installed high-flow diesel and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) capabilities at an existing Stripes c-store in Lubbock, TX.
This involved substantial site preparation, concrete pouring, and utility work across 52,000 square feet, addressing unique challenges like decommissioning old water wells and integrating advanced piping materials.
Site Complexity & Prep
The project required extensive site work for optimal diesel and DEF installation at the c-store. The PSI team encountered multiple challenges, including compacting and leveling the site, managing unexpected abandoned water wells, and preparing for significant concrete work. Additionally, coordinating with sub-contractors for tasks like electrical, landscaping, and concrete work posed scheduling challenges.
Strategic Coordination & Execution
PSI acted as the general contractor, organizing bids for subcontractors and overseeing key site operations. The team handled well closures, installed tanks with stainless piping for diesel and DEF, laid extensive concrete, installed canopy footings, and set up all electrical components. Each phase included thorough inspections, system startups, and final installations, assisted by PSI's Abilene office and local fuel maintenance experts.
High-Flow Diesel Success
The site successfully opened with high-flow diesel and DEF capabilities, providing Stripes customers with reliable fueling options. Despite challenges, PSI’s meticulous project management ensured compliance with city inspections and safety regulations. The final site incorporated efficient lighting, robust concrete, and up-to-date systems, improving operational flow and safety for the location.
