Morton’s New Hallettsville Store & Community Center

Morton’s, a beloved fixture in Hallettsville, TX, expanded from its original 2,200 sq. ft. store with one gas pump to a new 7,000 sq. ft. facility on Route 77.

The new store features Diane’s Diner, a truck stop, pet rest area, community center, and green space, blending local history with cutting-edge technology for a modernized, locally-focused convenience experience.

The Challenge

BALANCING EXPANSION NEEDS

Morton’s needed to balance an expanded service area with their commitment to the local community, ensuring the new space was both welcoming to travelers and reflective of local values. This meant designing a spacious, well-equipped forecourt, maintaining a strong sense of Texas history, and incorporating sustainable technology throughout.

The Solution

PURPOSEFUL DESIGN CHOICES

To meet these needs, the Morton's designed an expansive layout with designated spaces for trucks, cars, and pedestrians. The diner was styled as a retro eatery with mint and red accents, and the convenience store emphasized local products. The forecourt was upgraded with Gilbarco Encore 700S dispensers and Applause TV, while the entire site was outfitted with LSI LED lighting to enhance energy efficiency and visibility.

The Outcome

COMMUNITY DRIVEN SUCCESS

The new Morton’s became a versatile destination for both locals and travelers, offering convenience, a unique Texas ambiance, and modern amenities. The larger footprint and distinct areas allowed for seamless navigation, increased capacity, and a vibrant community atmosphere, ultimately establishing Morton’s as a model of modernized, community-focused convenience.
