MidSouth Energy To-Go

In 2019, MidSouth Energy, an electric utility provider in the Houston area, partnered with Woodforest Golf Club to enhance their amenities by installing an electric vehicle (EV) charging station for guests. MidSouth provided the necessary power infrastructure and collaborated with PSI Energy Solutions (legacy) to handle the installation and activation of the charging station, making it convenient for EV owners to recharge during their visit to the golf club.

The Challenge

INFRASTRUCTURE & EXPERTISE

Woodforest Golf Club, while eager to offer EV charging as a service, required both electrical infrastructure and specialized installation expertise. MidSouth Energy took the lead in setting up the necessary power line and meter to support a charging station but needed a reliable partner to complete the remaining construction, programming, and customization of the station itself.

The Solution

COMPREHENSIVE INSTALLATION SUPPORT

PSI Energy Solutions was selected for their ability to manage both the electrical and construction aspects of the project. PSI handled the concrete foundation, set up the ChargePoint charging station, initiated and programmed it, ensuring it was operational and guest-ready. PSI also implemented MidSouth’s custom branding, giving the charging station a unique and consistent look.

 

The Outcome

EXPANDED CHARGING ACCESS

The installation at Woodforest Golf Club was completed efficiently, providing visitors with an on-site EV charging option. The success of this project has led MidSouth Energy to plan additional charging stations across the Houston area, including locations at retail establishments and residential complexes. This installation marks a step forward in making EV charging more accessible and convenient throughout the community.
