New Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Facility For Greenville Utilities

2015 Eastern North Carolina

Project Overview

Greenville Utilities Commission (GUC) is a leading utilities provider and plays a critical role in providing regional solutions to utility challenges in Eastern North Carolina. As an environmentally-friendly utility and a regional leader, GUC wanted to invest in clean burning natural gas for vehicle fueling. GUC selected Jones & Frank to perform a design-build ground-up CNG fueling station project.

The main equipment on the project consisted of (2) 200 hp Ariel compressors integrated with an ANGI packaged system and controls, single tower PSB Dryer, storage vessels, (2) Encore 700 Gilbarco CNG CRIND Dispensers controlled by a Gasboy Fuel Management POS System, filtration cabinets, safety controls and high capacity tubing. Along with a climate-controlled building, a 24’ x 61’ canopy and Class 1 Division 2 lighting, the electrical work for the CNG station was also designed, furnished & installed by Jones & Frank. Work included scalable design for future equipment installation so the station can be quickly expanded.

This collaborative approach resulted in a safe, user-friendly and state-of-the-art CNG fueling station. This facility was successfully designed and installed for the fueling utilization of large sanitation and other fleet vehicles.
