Meredith Coleman, Sales Analyst and Marketing Manager for Jones & Frank, has been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Women of the Year. LLS Man & Woman of the Year is a philanthropic competition to support blood cancer research among a group of motivated and dedicated individuals in communities across the United States. The man and woman who have raised the most funds during the ten-week campaign are awarded the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the Year in their community. Meredith is competing in honor of the Boy of the Year, Braylon Beam. Meredith’s goal is to raise $100,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The campaign kicks off March 21st and ends with the winner being announced at the Grand Finale Gala on June 1st.

Meredith lost her best friend Beth to pancreatic cancer in January. Witnessing Beth’s battle with this horrible disease and dealing with the significant loss of her passing has ignited a fire in Meredith to fervently support research that leads to finding cures of many different forms of cancer.

Meredith Coleman has been with Jones & Frank for 11 years, filling several different roles in the company. She is currently the Sales Analyst and Marketing Manager. She lives in Denver, NC with her husband Adam and two sons, Liam and Connor.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the largest voluntary cancer research agency specifically focused on finding cures and better treatments for blood cancer patients. With the scope and scale to fund many projects at the same time, LLS supports hundreds of cancer scientists around the world. Since its inception in 1949, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has invested more than $1.2 billion in research to find the cause and cure for blood cancers. For the 2018 Man & Woman of the Year campaign, these passionate competitors together surpassed all previous campaign totals, raising an astonishing $45 million for LLS. This innovative fundraising campaign has raised more than $327 million in its 29-year history.

The research funded by LLS plays a significant role in the discovery and development of chemotherapy, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, and as of recent has resulted in new, targeted therapies and immunotherapies. Approximately 40% of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA since 2000 were first approved for blood cancer patients and many of these LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as diabetes and lupus.

Keith Shadrick, the CEO of Jones & Frank, recently released this statement regarding this year’s LLS Man & Woman of the Year Campaign. “We are honored to support Meredith’s ambitious campaign supporting LLS. Several employees at Jones & Frank and their family members have been direct benefactors of the research and advancements funded by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Jones & Frank is committed to supporting the communities we live and operate in and the many wonderful charitable organizations that support those communities. We pledge to support Meredith’s campaign in a variety of ways, including sponsoring events as well as making meaningful donations in money, time and other resources. We are proud of Meredith and all she is doing to support the efforts of LLS, and we encourage all of our employees to actively participate in this worthwhile cause.”
